ICT BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate at Richard Rose Central Academy

Course description

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in Information Technology, or who wishes to work with computers in their future career. This course also provides a good overall understanding of computers and their uses, therefore is a good supporting subject to have on any time table. 

Course content

There will be a mixture of teacher-led sessions, group work and independent research/ learning tasks to help you to prepare for the four units of study. The units are split up into a written paper, external task set and assessed by the examining body and two internally assessed tasks.

Course Outline

4 Units over 2 Years: 3 Mandatory Units and 1 Optional Unit. Studying for a Level 3 Extended Certificate in ICT. Unit 1 – Information Technology Systems (Written paper), Unit 2 – Creating Systems to Manage Information (Externally assessed) and Unit 3 – Using Social Media in Business (Internally set and assessed). The Optional Unit will be one of the following: Unit 5 - Data Modelling OR Unit 6 - Website Development. 

Entry requirements

5 Grades A-C at GCSE, including a B or above in ICT/ Computing.
