Course description

Unit 1
The Business Environment This unit focuses on introducing key concepts including types of ownership, stakeholder interests and external influences. Throughout the unit students will gain knowledge through individual tasks, group exercises, independent research and presentations. All this will be linked to Manchester Airport and Knutsford Academy to provide context and research opportunities.
Unit 2
Business Resources This unit focuses on business resources including workforce planning, physical & technical resources and financial planning. All knowledge is linked to a business of the student’s choice to provide context and research opportunities. This will include gathering resources to support work done within the classroom as well as using their circumstances to provide sound business advice to them on a range of issues. Assessment Requirements The course is graded on 100% coursework.

The assessment approach of the BTEC Nationals in Business allows learners to receive feedback on their progress throughout the course as they provide evidence towards the assessment and grading criteria. Evidence for assessment may be generated through a range of diverse activities including assignment and project work, case studies, workplace assessment, role play and oral presentation.
