Course description

A Level Business is usful for a range of careers, as it is a subject which covers a wide variety of topics, including marketing and finance. It also gives you the opportunity to start using skills within the classroom straight into the working world be it a part-time job or your own business.

What you will study

You'll develop a range of skills covering the following subject areas:

Globalisation
Global markets and business expansion
Global marketing
Global industries and companies (multinational corporations).

How you will learn

The learning process will be varied, ranging from lecturers, through student-centred activities,  individual and group work.  You'll also be expected to conduct at least four hours of reading and independent study outside of lessons and complete regular homework tasks.

 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at 9-4 or A* to C, including English and Maths at grade 5.

 

Assessment

Assessment is by external examination. To achieve the full A Level in Business  you will need to complete three externally assessed exams at the end of the second year. Progression is carefully monitored through combined student/teacher assessment, homework assignments and examination practice.

 

 

Financial information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.

Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course.

      At the Wakefield Campus you will find all the facilities you’d expect of a major college campus, such as a well-stocked Learning Centre, and a food court style refectory.

      Wakefield Campus is home to our Sixth Form, where students can choose from a wide range of AS/A Levels. Vocational courses at all levels can also be studied here – Business Studies, ICT, Hospitality and Catering, Travel and Tourism, Health and Social Care, Childcare, Animal Care... to name but a few.
