1 year AS, 2 years A2

Begin your journey to becoming a top movie Director by studying A Level Media Studies! The AS course involves planning and producing the opening two minutes of a new film and learning how to deconstruct television clips to assess how meaning is created for the audience through various technical choices.

At A2, develop your creative and practical skills further by producing a trailor for a new horror film. In preparation for the exam, you will learn analytical skills and issues relating to popular media.

Throughout the course, you will develop your analytical and critical thinking, improve your collaborative working skills and enhance your ability in the use of technology.

 

Course content

How the film industry works, how to analyse a film clip and how to make a short film of your own.

 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements to A Level courses are high and the College expects the minimum of a C grade in the subject at GCSE along with a C grade in English and Mathematics (GCSE).

 

Assessment

AS – Coursework and Exam, 50% of total A Level

A2 – Coursework and Exam, 50% of total A Level
