AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting at Burton and South Derbyshire College
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification is the ‘gold standard’ that employers specifically ask for when employing accounting staff. The AAT Level 3 Diploma is the second level of a three year professional qualification which can open up excellent job opportunities in both large and small companies in both the public and private sectors. Students will need to have a mature approach to study and a commitment to succeed. Completion of the final level leads to the full AAT accounting qualification and will give exemptions from CIMA and ACCA. The programme is aimed at producing employability skills and includes: AAT - At this level you will be introduced to more complex accounting tasks which include preparing final accounts for sole traders and partnerships. You will also learn how to maintain cost accounting records and prepare reports and returns. Financial spreadsheets and professional ethics are also covered. Students will need to have achieved AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. Students who have not previously achieved AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting will need an interview with the Course Leader. Due to the professional nature of the course students should have a good standard of Maths and English and mature students/candidates with relevant work experience who can demonstrate to the Course Leader a good understanding of manual double entry bookkeeping will be eligible.
AAT Level 4 Diploma and/or employment within a financial area.Assessment is through AAT computer based examinations and projects. IAB payroll will be assessed by external examination. There will be plenty of opportunities for students to practice the required skills.
