This course teaches Geography through 6 issues or topics, 3 physical and 3 Human Geography. They explain the world we live in today. The course examines the natural landscape and how humans are affected by it (e.g. Earthquakes) and the impact of humans on the environment.
Geographers undertake investigations to find out why something has happened, and we examine the different conditions people live in.
We use magazines, photographs, videos, news items and the internet to ask questions about the world around us, and try to explain what makes the world we live in.
Geography examinations are either Higher Paper (A* - D) or Foundation Paper (C - G).
There are three components to the examination.
Paper 1 - 3 questions on the Pysical Geography Topics (37%).
Paper 2 - 3 questions on the Human Geography Topics (37%).
Coursework - Fieldwork Investigation (25%)
This course links directly to our AS/A2 Geography course.
Coursework is a compulsory element. Fieldwork will be followed by detailed analysis of data reflecting the 25% value of the assessment.
An enquiring mind and good general knowledge of the world around you helps when studying other places.
