Statistics at St Bonaventure's RC School

Course description

Statistics deals with the collection, presentation and analysis of facts. In almost all scientific and business publications, in newspapers and in government reports, statistics are used to pass on information. These facts are presented by the use of figures and statistical diagrams (e.g. bar charts, pie charts etc). Statistics has become a very important part of mathematics, it accounts for 20% of your final GCSE mathematics grade. GCSE Statistics offers an introductory course on how to collect information and then make numerical deductions and display this information. Statistics is useful for pupils who wish to follow courses which analyse everyday facts (social, economic, natural, biological, political etc) and for pupils who wish to pursue careers in Banking, Insurance, Management, Marketing, Accountancy and Computing and wherever information needs numerical interpretation.
