Occupational Studies for the Workplace NCFE Level 1 Certificate at Havering College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

This course is designed for you if you would like to gain an insight into a vocational area.

Course content

There are two routes available:

  • Sport and Fitness which will look at planning fitness programmes, healthy eating and participating in exercise and fitness, or
  • Business and Retail which will look at customer service, small businesses and different areas of retail and their selling processes.

You will follow a curriculum which will include:

  • Sport and Fitness: Taking part in health and fitness, anatomy of the body, job opportunities in the sport and leisure industry and nutrition.
    • Business and Retail: Ideas for small businesses, recording business transactions and job opportunities in retail and business.

Both routes will be studied alongside OCR Cambridge Progression in English and Maths. You will also participate in enterprise activities and have the opportunity to undertake a supported work placement.

Entry requirements

There are no formal requirements. Entry is via successful interview.

Assessment

Assessment is ongoing through the academic year.

Future opportunities

There is the opportunity for progression onto a higher level course or employment.

      Quarles is a 20 minute bus ride from the centre of Romford and a short distance from the local shopping centre. Harold Hill features many open spaces including the expansive Central Park and is home to The Central Park Leisure Centre.
