BTEC Sport Permance & Excellence Level 3 (National Diploma) at The Bulwell Academy
The course is an active and enjoyable way to study Sport and gain an understanding of the Sport Industry. The course aims to provide students with opportunities to carry out practical work and develop skills and appropriate knowledge to enable progression to both Higher Education and employment.
The course aims to provide students with skills and knowledge to pursue a successful career within the broad field of Sport. BTEC Sport will not only lead to employment but can open the door to University, studying Leisure and Recreation and Sports related Degrees.
You will study nine mandatory units plus nine optional units.

Unit 7: Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise

Unit 17: Psychology for Sports Performance
Unit 23: Organising Sports Events
Unit 28: Athletes Lifestyle
Unit 5: Sports Coaching
Unit 8: Practical Team Sport
Unit 12: Current Issues in Sport
Unit 14: Exercise, Health and Lifestyle
Unit 18: Sports Injuries
Unit 19: Analysis of Sports Performance
Unit 22: Rules, Regulations and officiating in Sport
Unit 26: Work Experience in Sport
Unit 27 Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport
Unit 41: Profiling Sports Performance
Entry on to this course will require you to achieve 5 GCSEs including English and Maths.
- Progression to higher education – sports science, physical education, sports and exercise science, sports coaching, sports development and health and physical fitness.
- Careers such as commercial and community sport management, local authority and voluntary sector sport, and public services.
