Art & Design BTEC Diploma Level 3 at East Berkshire College

Course description

This course is a one year programme with the opportunity to extend into a second year for a full national diploma.

The nine units taken in this year will relate to a further nine in year 2 should you wish to progress - leaving at this stage will be the equivalent of one A-level.

The specialist units allow you to study in depth and include graphic design, fine art, textiles and 3D design.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE's at grade C, including art, or a first diploma in art with a Merit grade.

You will be invited for an interview at which you should bring along a portfolio of work that demonstrates your commitment to study art and design.


The course is taught though lectures and practical studio sessions with trips to major museums and galleries supporting the contextual part of your study.

Future opportunities

  • Most students progress to H.E. although some will find employment within the creative industries.
  • A career as an art teacher, freelance design work, fashion designer, stylist, product designer.
