Biology AS/A2 at Tech City College

Course description

From global warming to cancer research, the study of Biology is as vast as the planet and as intricate as the cells in your body. Biology is the study of life and living organisms and covers a wide range of topics from the study of molecules to the ecosystem and the physiology of organisms. Through studying A-level Biology you will learn how scientists work and how science contributes to modern society. You will develop skills in data collection and evaluation and learn how to investigate facts, draw conclusions and put your views across effectively.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including a minimum: Grade C in Maths Grade B in English Double Science grade BB or Triple Science grade BBB.


You will be assessed through written examination and practical assessment.

Future opportunities

A-level Biology is essential if you want to study biology, biochemistry, ecology, genetics, medicine, nursing, nutrition or radiography at university. It is often a required qualification for degrees in related subjects such as physiotherapy, health science, sports science and global health studies. It is also strongly linked to a wide variety of careers in the health and clinical professions - for example, medicine, nutrition, physiotherapy and forensic science.
