Brickwork Apprenticeship at Oldham College Apprenticeships

Course description

Brickwork is made of competence and knowledge, the NVQ and the diploma. The diploma will be delivered in the college and the NVQ in the workplace, it will cover all aspects of Brickwork from the most basic of tasks to complex work.

Course content

In order to progress in your chosen role it is widely accepted that Apprenticeships/Work Based learning is the option to demonstrate your skills and competencies to assist your progression through the career ladder. Learners achieving this qualification can progress further within the construction industry or to running and operating their own business.

The Bricklaying course covers the following skills:

  • conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • erecting masonry structures in the workplace
  • erecting masonry structures in the workplace
  • moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace 
  • setting out masonry structures in the workplace

Entry requirements

No Formal Entry Requirements

GCSE Grade A-D alternatively learners will be required to do an initial assessment.

Assessment

Level 2/3 NVQ Diploma in Brickwork
Functional skills 1 or 2 in English and Maths (unless already accredited)

Financial information

If you are aged 16-23 the Skills Funding Agency will fund the cost of the training. 
If you are aged 24+ an employer contribution would be required.

Between £7.00 and £16.00 per hour.

Future opportunities

Progression is available to progress to Level 3 Apprenticeship in Bricklaying or HE routes in Construction.
