Culinary Skills Level 2 Diploma at Harlow College

Course description

This is a practical programme, which helps you to develop skills in cooking. These skills will allow you to prepare a wide range of dishes. The Diploma gives you an excellent grounding in the hospitality and catering industry. You will gain a good standard of cookery skills and learn other workplace essentials such as hygiene, health and safety, teamwork and customer care. This course can lead to progression onto a Level 3 course.

  • Level 2 Prepare and cook fruit and vegetables
  • Level 2 Prepare and cook meat and offal
  • Level 2 Prepare and cook poultry
  • Level 2 Prepare and cook fish and shellfish
  • Level 2 Prepare and cook rice, pasta, grains and egg dishes 
  • Level 2 Produce hot and cold desserts and puddings
  • Level 2 Produce paste products
  • Level 2 Produce biscuit, cake and sponge products
  • Level 2 Produce fermented dough products
  • Level 2 Food safety in catering
  • Credit Transfer for Level 2 Food Safety in Catering

Entry requirements

At least 2 GCSEs at grade D and 2 GCSEs at grade E


Short answer tests, practical exams, written questions.

Visits - £80
Locker - £10

You may be entitled to receive a bursary to cover these costs

Future opportunities

Employment as a chef in hotels, restaurant or industrial catering establishments.
Level 3 course.
