Course description

This is a workbased automotive qualification that assesses the competence and knowledge that auto electrical technicians require to perform thier job role effectively on vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.

Course content

The contents of this course includes; basic electrics, batteries, alternaters motors, ignition systems, fuel systems, engine management, vehicle lighting, wipers, heating, auxilary equipment, in car entertainment, alarms and satelite navigation.   

Entry requirements

Applicants should expect to obtain or have GCSE's at Grade D or above, in English, Mathematics, Technology and a Science. But more importantly they must want to pursue a career in the vehicle repair industry.

Future opportunities

The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support progression to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.  With further training, you could continue to develop your career into workshop Supervisor or Manager.  The course is work-based which means you can earn and learn at the same time whilst developing the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers are looking for.
