Criminology (Examined Applied Diploma) - 1 A level equivalent at Huddersfield New College
Criminology is the fascinating study of crime. You will explore the different types of crime through researching and debating criminal cases. The social construct of crime is different all around the world and you will have the opportunity to discuss this, as well as debate how criminal activity should be punished and tackled.

- Crime and punishment
This is a fast paced and inspiring course and under the direction of our qualified and outstanding staff you will explore various crimes. Activities will include investigating the reasons why crime may go unreported, and plan a campaign for change related to crime. You will ask yourself if nature or nurture (the environment) causes people to commit crime, and explore information that will help you understand the verdicts in various criminal cases. You will also debate whether the punishment for a crime is effective.
Grade 4 in a traditional written subject, for example GCSE History or English Literature.

This qualification supports a wide range of progression routes such as degrees in Criminology, Sociology and Law, with career progression into the Police or Forensic Sciences. Through developing a deeper understanding of the various roles in the sector, you could be inspired to consider a wide range of possibilities!
