Course description

Components/method of assessment

AS level consists of two externally assessed units, and two internally assessed coursework components (ISA and PSA). Unit1 counts for 34%, Unit 2 for 46% and Unit 3 for 20% of the final AS grade.

A level consists of two structured question exam papers plus the coursework.

Relevance of the course, pupil suitability and possible careers and employment sectors

Understanding the processes, which operate in living things, helps us to understand our environment and ourselves. Some of the most recent advances in Molecular Biology, and other areas of research, are included in the new syllabus. These new topics allow students to understand how Biology is changing and how these changes will impact on our lives. Biology is the study of life.

BB in Core and Additional Science or B grade in Biology
