Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV and Film) - Level 3 at South Thames College

Course description

This course gives you industry-based transferable skills that are the most asked for by employers. You'll focus on practical projects to give you direct experience of the practices and protocols used in the industry, and you'll learn the theory behind the skills too. Each project helps you understand an important area of the industry. TV and film studies helps you become ready for work with the main abilities needed for areas of media, film photography and sound.

Course content

Units include:

  • Pre-production techniques
  • Audio-visual editing techniques
  • Film and video editing techniques
  • Single camera techniques
  • Digital photography
  • Music video production
  • Corporate video production.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs A*-C with English and maths at A*-D; OR a relevant Level 2 diploma at least at merit plus English and maths assessed by us to be at an appropriate level.


You'll be assessed by practical and written assignments, presentations and recorded work.

Future opportunities

From the 90-credit diploma, move up to the extended diploma. From the extended diploma, progress to a university-level course or find work in marketing, web-design, TV or film.
