Sport - BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Treviglas Community College

Course description

If you enjoy sport, are thinking about a career in sport but are not sure which avenue to pursue, this course could help you decide. The variety in units provides opportunity to study different aspects of sport and its associated industries.

Course content

The course involves a mixture of theory based study and practical activity including studying the anatomy and physiology of the body to planning and carrying out fitness testing and training programmes.

  • Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport
  • The Physiology of Fitness
  • Assessing Risk in Sport

Plus a choice of 3 optional units, Fitness Training and Programming, Sports Coaching, Sports Development,  Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise and Outdoor Adventure Activities.

Entry requirements

Minimum 5 GCSE grade C or above.


All coursework based NO EXAMS! As well as assignment based assessment you will also be assessed in practical observations and through presentations.

Future opportunities

Many students progress to higher education courses studying Sports Coaching, Leisure Management and Sports Science. Some students have moved into employment working in Leisure centres and sports facilities.
