Paper 4:   Coursework - U.S. Civil War

Entry requirements

At least a C in GCSE History.  Students who have not studied GCSE History are sometimes considered.

Assessment

Paper 1:   Written examinations, lasting 2 hours 15 minutes.

                 30% of the total A2 qualification

Paper 2:   Written examinations, lasting 1 hour 30 minutes.

                 20% of the total A2 qualification

Paper 3:   Written examinations, lasting 2 hours 15 minutes.

                 30% of the total A2 qualification

Unit 4:      Internally assessed, externally moderated, C.

                 4000 words 20% of the total A2 qualification

Exam Board:  Edexcel

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in History or related subjects such as English, American Studies, Politics , Archaeology or more general courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to history by seeking employment in areas of heritage such as working for a museum or within education such as a teacher. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
