Connects Pathways Entry Level 1 at New College Nottingham

Course description

Whether you’ve left school with low GCSE grades, have no formal qualifications, or have learning difficulties and/or disabilities, this course will give you all the support and encouragement you need to progress to Level 2 studies at ncn.

If you are looking to improve your personal independence and social skills as well as literacy, numeracy and ITC skills, then this course is for you. The course has been specifically designed to enable people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to access qualifications that will develop and improve their learning experience.

Course content

The Connect Pathways will help you to improve your confidence, independence and well-being in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere encouraging you to achieve at your own pace and enjoy your time at college.

This course consists of the following:  

Community skills
Healthy living
Work awareness
Personal safety
Managing money
Working with others
Using technology
Citizenship

Optional subjects include:

Cookery
Art
Gardening
Sport
Drama

Entry requirements

You don't need any formal qualifications. You'll just need to meet with your tutor and complete a short assessment to ensure you start on the right course for you.

Assessment

Assessment is continual through coursework folders and Functional Skills assessments.

Future opportunities

Through course reviews students will have the opportunity to progress within the Connect Pathways or to other Entry and Enterprise courses including opportunities for work experience and links to voluntary and charitable organisations. Internal advice and guidance is available for further training opportunities.
