Course description

The Skills Team level 2 Apprenticeship in Team Leading accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management offers new or aspiring team leaders the chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications and develop competence and confidence in their work to enhance their career opportunities.

This programme offers a valuable mix of training, skills development and applied workplace learning leading to a Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading and Functional Skills in Maths, English and IT at the appropriate level.

The programme is ideal for individuals working in various job roles including Supervisors, Office Team Leaders, Shift Leaders and Warehouse Controllers or anyone who wants to develop their team leading skills.

They will be new to their role or require significant upskilling.

The programme works best when delivered alongside workplace-specific development goals and we actively encourage the involvement of the learner's line manager throughout.

Skills Team’s apprenticeship programme is flexible to individual and employer needs and is fully supported. One to one sessions, tuition and advice are provided by our team of experienced and qualified trainers, assessors and advisors ensuring that the needs of employers and employees are fully met.

Course content

Subjects that will be covered in the tutor led classroom sessions include:

The role of the team leader
Induction session; the role of a team leader, personal performance and goal setting.

Managing and developing your team
Setting business objectives, managing performance and developing teams.

Organisational structures
Understanding business structures, business plans and legal responsibilities. Reading test.

IT in a business environment
Developing core IT skills and the IT test.

Business relationships and communication
Working relationships and collaboration; business communication and presentation skills. Writing test.

Reporting and presenting
Maths and business reporting. Giving presentations.
