Dance A Level at Hornsey School for Girls

Course description

Along with their study students will be expected to participate in dance workshops and performances with professional dancers and dance companies.

AS Level
Unit 1: Understanding Dance
Unit 2: Section A - Solo Choreography & Performance
Section B - Performance in a duo/group

A2 Level
Unit 3: Appreciation, Content & Context
Unit 4: Section A - Group Choreography
Section B - Solo Performance

To support learning, students will also be expected to attend technique classes, rehearsals and theatre trips in addition to their lessons

Entry requirements

As well as Dance GCSE grade A* - C (or an extensive Dance background) students will need at least an English GCSE grade A* - C

Assessment

The AS practical exam is internally examined and then externally moderated. The A2 practical exam is performed externally. AS and A2 written examinations are both externally examined.
