Art and Design BTEC National at Bedford Academy

Course description

Dreaming of a career in the arts industry? Do you want to study at an art college? Then develop a broad bades portfolio of work with BTEC Art and Design. Throughout this course you will experience a wide range of different media and techniques such as painting, mixed media, drawing, graphics, surface pattern, digital media and crafts, helping you identify and develop a career path to suit you. The ability to make and create things for others to use and enjoy is a thrilling and satisfying undertaking. This course encourages indivduality and original creative expression.

Course content

You will take a broad approach to Art and Design. Our course is designed to allow you to develop a good grounding in a number of Art and Design specialist areas whilst still exploring the subject in depth. Students will have opportunities to develop their skills in areas chosen from: painting and drawing, photography, printmaking, textiles, three dimensional and graphic design.

Assessment

Level 3 BTEC courses are assessed on coursework assignments that are internally marked and externally moderated. There are no exams.

Future opportunities

If you want a career in the Creative Industries or to study this subject at university, perhaps combine it with A Level Photography. You could progress into careers in design crafts, graphics, fine art, illustration, jewellery, printmaking, mixed media, textiles/surface pattern, digital design and editing and photography.
