Sport (Sports Academy) Level 3 Diploma at LeSoCo

Course description

This is a one-year full-time course which allows you entry to higher education, whilst preparing you for various work roles in the sport and leisure industry. This programme covers the knowledge and skills required of sports coaches, sports injury professionals, gym instructors and sports development officers. A genuine interest in sport, health and fitness is required. With no exams, the deadlines for coursework are frequent and the work bite-sized to maintain a steady progress. However, the academic demands are high with practical elements forming part of the course. Research skills are vital and will involve use of textbooks, sports dictionaries, and respected internet sources. Specific units will include the following: Anatomy and Physiology for Sport, The Physiology of Fitness, Coaching in Sport, Health Screening, Fitness Testing, Risk Assessment in Sport, Sport in Society, and Practical Team Sports.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grades A*-C; one of which must be GCSE English or GCSE Mathematics. Or successful completion of a Level 2 substantial qualification in a related subject - plus an initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English and mathematical ability, and a satisfactory reference.
