Motor Vehicle Studies Level 1 and Level 2 at Youth Education Project (YEP!)

Course description

The MVS (Motor Vehicle Studies) course is one made up of theory and practical sessions working towards a level 1 and level 2 qualification.

You will learn about:

Health & Safety

Braking Systems 

Steering & Suspension

Liquid cooling and Lubrication

Routine Vehicle Maintenance

Battery & Lighting Systems


Course content

You will be enrolled onto a Programme of Study course , a recognised full time programme which will in addition to the Motor Vehicle Qualification include Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT and/or GCSE

We will also work on your Personal and Social Development (PSD) improving employability skills, CV and cover letter writing, interview techniques, money management, healthy eating to name just a few subjects covered.

There will also be opportunities to join in social events run by YEP such as football tournaments, pool and table tennis competitions, visits to mega zone and bowling to build on team work, communication skills and confidence.

Entry requirements

Currently not in work or education.

Willingness to work on motor vehicles within a team setting.

Ability to work in a garage environment.


Assessment is achieved through your portfolio of evidence that you will build up as you go through the course.

There are no examinations, it is purely based on the practical work and the write-ups that you do in your sessions and in the classroom.

Financial information

No charge to learners - in most cases, you even receive a bursary to help with your travel and lunches!

Future opportunities
