Health & Social Care BTEC Diploma at Solihull College & University Centre
If you are interested in beginning a career in Health and Social care working with different client groups including, older people, children aged 0-7 years and individuals who have additional needs, then the Level 1 introductory course can get you started learning the basics of Health and Social Care and develop your knowledge to understand the demands and expectations of the industry.
During the course you will study:
- How to communicate with people,
- How to provide personal care,
- Creative activities,
- Development throughout the life span,
- Skills to prepare for work.
2 GCSE's at Grade E or above, a successful interview and a reference.
To pass this course you will complete a mixture of written assignments, practical assessments and tests for Maths, English and IT.
If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying towards level 2 in Health and Care or gain employment and then return to study as an Apprentice.
Before you can complete a placement you will need to complete a Criminal Record Bureau.
There will a Student Trip and a Placement Polo shirt is required, textbook & folder is required. Costs of these additions will be given at the interview as they are subject to change. also it should be noted that a uniform is compulsory on all health and social care courses for 16-19 year olds.
Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.
If you haven't achieved an A*-C grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.
