Performing Engineering Operations
The use of either hand or machine to make or maintain a component or system. Other operations could be the design of a component or quality control.
The typical roles that fir this pathway are:
- Machine Operative
- Metal Worker
- Maintenance Operative
- Process Operator
Performing Manufacturing Operations
The creation of components using either hand or machine. These components can be mechanical, electrical, electronic, metal or composite.
The typical roles that fit this pathway are:
- Assembly Operator
Business Improvement Techniques
Contribute to the efficiency or effectiveness of a manufacturing or maintenance operation.
Typical roles that fit this pathway are:
- Materials Handler
- Shop Floor Operative
- Quality Control
- Member of the Administration team
Minimum 5 GCSE grade E including Maths, English and Science. All applicants will be required to pass initial assessments in Maths and English.
Depending on your employer's requirements, you may not have to attend college, your apprenticeship can be delivered completely at your workplace. If not, you will spend
one day per week at your local Wiltshire College campus and the rest of the time gaining experience on the job at your place of work.
Your final qualifications will include a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in the pathway of your choice (to demonstrate your practical competence) and a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification (to demonstrate your theoretical knowledge on the subject).
You will also obtain qualifications in Functional Skills such as math, English and IT, should you be required to complete them.
