Year 13 – A2 Level
- Coasts

- Natural Hazards
- Weather and Climate

- Development

Entry requirements

A background in GSCE Geography is essential. We would expect you to have been entered for the higher tier and gained at least a grade C. Anything less and you will struggle at AS Level. We would look for grades of C or above in English/Maths and Science as an indication of ability.

Assessment

Modular Syllabus:
Year 12 – 2 exams (no coursework)
Year 13 – 2 exams

Future opportunities

Geography is seen as a useful qualification in many careers:
- environmental and landscape management
- planning, survey and cartography (map-making)
- business careers, e.g. tourism, transport management
- many other jobs needing the skills that geographers learn.
- Teaching

Geographers learn:
- to work with complex situations and varied information
- to make sense of events and processes in a changing world
- to predict the likely results of different courses of action, and to choose between them
