Information and Communication Technology at Neston High School

Course description

Course Outline Students can opt for the WJEC ICT and gain a GCE a qualification from A* to E. The course entitles students to nine lessons over the two week timetable.
At A/S level students will study:
* 4.1 Unit IT1 Information Systems (AS) 2 hour 15 minute written examination 60% of AS qualification
* 4.2 Unit IT2 Presenting Information (AS) Coursework 40% of AS qualification Candidates undertake DTP and multimedia tasks, presenting the outcome for internal assessment and moderation by WJEC.
At A2 level student will study:
* 4.3 Unit IT3 Use and Impact of ICT (A2) 2 hour 30 minute written examination 60% of A2 qualification
* 4.4 Unit IT4 Relational Databases (A2)
Coursework 40% of A2 qualification Candidates analyse, design, implement, test and evaluate a solution to a problem of their choice requiring the use of a relational database.
This is a substantial piece of work, undertaken over an extended period of time (as required by the subject criteria). Internally assessed and moderated by WJEC

5 A* - C with 1 C in GCSE IT
