The course demands a high level of commitment from students and revolves around rehearsals and ensemble work. Students choosing this course will be expected to be highly motivated and proactive. The ability to work as part of a group is essential.
This is a performance based course which will allow you to develop your instrumental or vocal playing and performing techniques. Individual peripatetic lessons are given to support this development. Your knowledge of popular music will be broadened with an in depth study into the development of different styles and genres of music. The course provides opportunities to work with professional musicians and organisations as well as watching various music productions and concerts.
Apart from performance there are a variety of career opportunities linked to this course including teaching, arts administration, sound engineering, music therapy, radio/ studio work, media and youth work.
