Professional Cookery City & Guilds Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This course will further develop the skills learnt at Level 1.

By working in professional kitchens and restaurants, you will progress your practical skills and theoretical knowledge through observations, demonstrations and visits to hotels and restaurants.

There is an expectation that you will have gained prior knowledge and skills to work as an independent learner and take responsibility for working professionally on your designated stations in the production kitchen under the scrutiny and guidance of your lecturer.

You will gain hands on experience in our state of the art kitchens and commercial restaurant Avenue 141. You will also have the opportunity to compete in National competitions.

You will be required to meet the demands of working in a real catering environment serving paying customers.

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade D or above and/or completion of Diploma Level 1 Professional Cookery.
  • Successful interview.

Future opportunities

Diploma Level 3 in Professional Cookery or Level 3 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service.

After this course, you could find employment as a chef de partie in charge of a particular area of production, or join food and beverage establishments as a section team leader.
