Course description

The Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People's Workforce requires the completion of the following:

Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF)

Level 2 Functional Skills English

Level 2 Functional Skills Maths

Level 2 Functional Skills ICT

Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health, Social Care and Children and Young People's Settings

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

 

Course content

Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF): This qualification consists of a range of mandatory and optional units, as well as a mandatory pathway, which are either competence or knowledge based. To achieve this qualification, 27 credits from the mandatory units, 22 credits from Pathway C and 16 credits from the optional units, must be completed and achieved, which means in total 65 credits must be achieved.                                                    

See below a couple of Mandatory Units that are within the qualification:                       Promote Communication in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings (competence unit 3 credits)                                                                                     Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings (knowledge unit 1 credit)

See below a couple of Mandatory Pathway C units that are within the qualification: Context and Principles for Early Years Provision (competence unit 4 credits)        Professional Practice in Early Years Settings (competence unit 3 credits)

See below a couple of Optional units that are within the qualification:                   Work with Babies and Young Children to Promote their Development and Learning (competence unit 6 credits)                                                                              Promote Young Children's Physical Activity and Movement Skills (competence unit 3 credits)

Level 2 Functional Skills English: To achieve this qualification, learners are supported by an Assessor who will prepare them, by using a variety of resources to pass an end assessment for Reading Level 2 and Writing Level 2. The Assessor will also observe and record, Speaking and Listening activities at Level 2 carried out by the learner, to enable a full Functional Skills English certificate to be achieved.

Level 2 Functional Skills Maths: To achieve this qualification Learners are supported by an Assessor, who will prepare them, by using a variety of resources to pass an end assessment for Maths Level 2.

Level 2 Functional Skills ICT: To achieve this qualification learners  are supported by an Assessor, who will prepare them by using a variety of resources, to pass an end assessment for ICT Level 2.

Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health, Social Care and Children and Young People's Settings: To achieve this qualification an assignment is completed which consists of four tasks, which include answering short answer questions, describing and explaining about your work role, your Career pathway and preparing a presentation or report.

Personal Learning and Thinking Skills: Within the Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People's Workforce you will also work towards achieving the following skills:                                                                                                  Independent enquirers                                                                                                             Creative Thinkers                                                                                                                                         Reflective Learners                                                                                                            Team Workers                                                                                                                         Self Managers                                                                                                                         Effective Participators

Guided Learning Hours: Within the Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People's Workforce you will work towards achieving on and off the job Guided Learning Hours, which are achieved by completing diaries for on the job GLH and a Continual Professional Development log for the off the job GLH.

    • The Paragon Skills Dudley office, is situated in the centre of Dudley town, which is easily accessible by foot from the Dudley bus station. The office has a large training room for the delivery of lessons, smaller meeting rooms for small groups and one to one meetings, which can also be used for a quiet place to work if individuals require to do so. A prayer room is available if needed. As the office is in the town centre, there are plenty of places to eat and drink from, or if you like shopping, a variety of shops are close by.
