BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts Level 3 at Nicholas Hamond Academy

Course description


The Course aims to provide a broad educational base for further training, further education and employment within the performing arts sector.

The qualification will develop learners’ abilities through the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the programme. It also provides learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes for successful performance in their working life.

Course content


The curriculum focuses on vocational study of the performing arts sector. This includes a balance of theory and practical work.

The work will include units that train and equip learners with the skills and knowledge to - perform confidently in front of an audience, examine and research the historical and social contexts of performance texts, learn and apply skills and knowledge in areas such as vocal techniques and movement techniques for non-dancers, stage design, technical aspects of the stage, and explore the methods and theories of renowned practitioners such as Stanislawski, Brecht, Meyerhold and Artaud.

Entry requirements


BTEC level 2 qualification in Performing Arts or a related vocational area.


A standard of literacy and numeracy supported by a general education equivalent to four GCSEs at grade A*-C.


Ongoing assessment.

Future opportunities

Acting, performance, presenting, choreography, dancing, singing or theatre production.
