Course description

Are you interested in how our country is governed? Would you like to know how the next government will run your country? Would you like to air your views on the politics of this country? Then choose AS Government and Politics. Through independent investigation, debate, visits and speakers you will explore how people vote, who they vote for and how political parties and pressure groups influence the people. You will also explore the different bodies of Government and how they work from local to national to international levels to represent the people of Britain.

Government and Politics goes well with a combination of other AS or A levels including History, Law, English, Economics, Sociology, Geography, Psychology, Philosophy & Ethics.

This qualification would allow students to progress into work in the tourist industry in hotels, airports, stewarding, museums, tourist information centres, travel agencies.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C in a Humanities subject or English Language.

Future opportunities

This is an incredibly useful AS level to have if you would like to go into Politics, Law, Journalism, sales or advertising, Education, public services or the armed forces. If you are going into higher education and thinking of studying a Humanities, Social Sciences or Arts subject at university, then having this AS level on your application will look particularly good to admissions tutors.
