BTEC Music Performance Level 3 at The Bulmershe School

Course description

The Music Performance BTEC is about working towards improving students as musicians, alongside providing them with the skills which would be needed as a professional musician. There is a large focus on practical skills being used in real work contexts.

The units of the course are flexible and we will decide as a class which modules to complete. Below is a suggested programme.

Course content

AS Level Equivalent Modules Unit 23 (compulsory): Musical Performance Techniques Unit 22: Music Performance Session Styles Unit 27: Music Project A2 Level Equivalent Modules Unit 33 (Compulsory): Solo Music Performance Skills Unit 24: Community Music Unit 30: Pop Music in Practice.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C, including English and Maths, and preferably a grade C at GCSE Music, but students can be accepted who have not studied Music as long as they have a keen interest.


Each unit will be assessed differently. The majority of the work will be assessing your practical skills.

Future opportunities

This course will provide you with valuable skills for any future career skills, such as team work, self-confidence and work-based experience; this is alongside allowing you to develop further as a musician. Students from this course go onto university, apprenticeships or work.
