Course description

Religious Studies will develop your knowledge of the main religions practised in the UK and will allow you to consider some of the key ethical and religious debates facing people today.

 

Course content

We only need to look at the news to see how relevant the study of religion is. In the 21st Century, it is increasingly important to be aware of different religions and to understand how they shape people’s attitudes and lifestyles.
 
You will cover different religions, including Christianity and Islam. You will learn about aspects of their beliefs, practices and ethics and will develop your own skills of analysis and evaluation to reflect on key religious debates affecting society today.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in English Language. Grade 4 in Religious Studies (if taken).

All units assessed by examinations.

This course could lead you onto higher education to study Theology or Religious Studies.

With further training, you could go into a job related to Religious issues and Theology such as a Social Worker, Charity Officer, Counsellor or Teacher.

    • The College is situated on Moorgate in Rotherham, about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Rotherham.  Buses leave the central Rotherham Interchange every 10 minutes and the journey takes approx. 5 minutes. 

      We also run dedicated bus services to ease your journey to and from College.  See www.thomroth.ac.uk for details and route information. 

      The College also has on-site permit parking for students, with priority given to students with the greatest distance to travel.
