Why study Outdoor Adventure?

Our outdoor adventure courses provide the specialist work-related skills, knowledge and understanding needed to gain confidence, progression and employment within the

What does the course involve?

BTEC Level 3 30-credit Certificate

Unit 1 - Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport

Unit 2 - The Physiology of Fitness

Unit 3 - Assessing Risk in Sport

Unit 29 - Principles and Practices in Outdoor Adventure

BTEC Subsidiary Diploma - 60 credits

Units as listed for the Level 3 Certificate, plus optional units adding up to a further 30 credits from:

Unit 4 - Fitness Training and Programming

Unit 11 - Sports Nutrition

Unit 13 - Leadership in Sport

Unit 15 - Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise

Unit 17 - Psychology for Sports Performance

Unit 26 - Work Experience in Sport

Unit 27 - Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport

Unit 28 - The Athlete’s Lifestyle

Unit 30 - Equipment and Facilities for Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

Unit 33 - Skills for Land-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

Unit 34 - Skills for Water-based Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

National Governing Bodies (NGBs) Qualifications and Awards run alongside this course include:

  • First Aid
  • BCU Paddlepower Discover or 2 Star Award
  • RYA Dinghy or Windsurfing Qualification
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award

Progression and Career Opportunities:

BTEC Sport is an excellent springboard to Higher Education courses in as well as National Governing Body courses and qualifications. A background in sport is also beneficial for careers in the active leisure industry as well as teaching and medical professions. Students enjoy the course and get a great deal from it due to the combination of practical and assignment-based learning.
