Music Practitioner - Technology Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma at Blackburn College
This Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology is designed to give you an insight into the rapidly developing world of Music Technology through the development of practical skills and the theoretical knowledge required. Students will gain the skills and knowledge required to allow them to progress to Higher Education or Employment.
The course is made up mandatory and optional units from a broad range of professional and subject-specific specialist units. There are five compulsory units:
- Listening Skills for Music Technologists
- Music Production Techniques
- Planning and Delivering a Music Product
- Sequencing Systems and Techniques
- The Sound and Music Industry
Specialist units must also be studied which may be selected from a range of options including:
- Acoustics for Musicians
- Audio Engineering Principles
- Backline Technical Management
- DJ Performance Techniques
- Music & Sound for the Moving Image
Learners will also complete an additionalqualification to complement your programme.
Students should have at least a BTEC Level 2 Merit/Distinction Grade portfolio or at least four GCSEs at Grades A*-C. Equivalent qualifications will be considered. The above may be waived for mature students who can demonstrate previous experience or evidence of appropriate musical skills.
The emphasis of assessments on the course is developing you as a music technologist with a range of skills and approaches to music recording, live performance support, and broader technical and organisational skills that are needed in the real world. There are no formal examinations.
On Completion of this qualification you will be able to move onto one of the many Higher Education Courses that are now available in this field or take the first steps in a Music Career.
