Facilities Management Principles – Certificate Level 3 at The Skills Partnership Ltd

Course description

This qualification is designed for those who are, or will be, undertaking a senior operative, supervisory or management role within a facilities management company. This course will give you the opportunity to develop the essential, background knowledge of facilities management that is in line with current industry requirements.

Learners need to complete the following units:

Mandatory units:

  • Understanding Facilities Management for Businesses and Organisations
  • Managing and Developing Relationships in the Workplace
  • Delivering Service in the Workplace
  • Developing Yourself and Others

A minimum of three units from Group B, facilities management specific units of which there are 10 to choose from including: Managing projects, managing equipment, managing materials, managing contractors and suppliers, introduction to effective management of space, managing and maintaining properties.

A minimum of one unit from Group C, general management units of which there are 16 to choose from including: managing health and safety, building the team, organising and delegating, working with costs and budgets, understanding security measures, problem solving and decision-making, recruiting and selecting teams, introduction to leadership and management, managing the performance of teams and individuals.

Entry requirements

You should be aged 19 or over. You may be employed or unemployed. There are no minimum academic or vocational qualifications required but a good general standard of education is beneficial.

Assessment

You will be assigned a personal tutor who will plan an individual learning programme with you. This will be through a mix of online or face to face workshops and one to one tutorial support.

Where the programme is delivered as a face to face workshop there are usually 4 sessions and an assessment session with practice project and assignment work to complete. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence which can be gathered through: Questioning, either verbal or written; Professional discussion with your tutor; Personal Statements/Reflective accounts.

Depending on your circumstances you may wish to consider a level 4 Leadership and Management course.
