Course description

The Diploma in Travel & Tourism course gives students a broad understanding of the various aspects of the travel & tourism industry and develops skills required for employment.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is ideal if you are looking to work for a tour operator, retail travel agent, hotel, ground staff at an airport, cabin crew or resort representative.

Course content

• Interpersonal Skills
• Principals of Customer Service
• The Structure of the UK Industry
• Retail Travel Services
• Tour Operations
• Activity Tourism
• Cruise Industry
• Planning an Event
• Event Review and Evaluation

Additional Certificates:
• City & Guilds Award in Resort Representative

You will also participate in GCSE re-sit or Functional Skills for English and Maths if you achieved lower than a C in your GCSE exams.

Entry requirements

You need 5 GCSE passes at grade D or above (including 1 C in an appropriate subject) or BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

Assessment

All the units will be continually assessed by assignments or on-line tests and will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Financial information

You will be required to pay £150 for visits. Your tutor will provide details of these at the start of the course. 

Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

Following successful completion of this course you can progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Award, Certificate & Diploma in Travel & Tourism.
