Public Services BTEC (Single/Double) at George Salter Academy

Course description

There are many different optional units in the BTEC Level 3 Public Services qualification, which students may use to focus on specific services or to build a broader programme of learning within Public Services . The course covers both uniformed and nonuniformed services and highlights all of the physical and academic requirements to achieve a position in the services . The course also helps to develop team players and demonstrates the leadership qualities that you would require in preparation for your chosen career. Students will also gain understanding of how politics affect their everyday lives . They will have the chance to explore different government departments and gain an insight to how laws are created and passed.

Progression routes from this course

Having completed an Edexcel BTEC Level 3 in Public Services, learners will be ideally placed to progress to higher education to pursue Public Services or specialist Public Services qualifications such as Higher Nationals or other degree-level qualifications.

Unit 2: Leadership and Teamwork in the Public Services

Unit 4: Understanding Discipline in the Uniformed Public Services

Unit 5: Physical Preparation, Health and Lifestyle for the Public Services

Unit 8: Understanding the Impacts of War, Conflict and Terrorism on Public Services

Unit 9: Outdoor and Adventurous Activities

Unit 24: Current and Media Affairs in the Public Services

Assessment

All units are 100% coursework.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C. You do not need to have studied Public Services before.
