Music at The Sixth Form College Colchester

Course description

The course consists of three elements: performing,composing and listening. An enthusiasm for practical music making and a willingness to improve playing standards to a high level are needed. Students will be expected to participate in a range of ensemble practical work. Instrumental tuition is part of the Additional studies programme for Music students.

Entry requirements

Previous GCSE study is not essential but a standard of grade 5 Music theory and grade 5/6 practical on an instrument or voice is required. If taken a grade C in Music is required. A grade C (or 4) or above in GCSE English is also required. A short assessment test will be given to students at Induction and, if necessary, students will be asked to prepare a practical performance piece.
