Accounting & Business AAT Diploma Level 2 at Epping Forest College

Course description

The AAT Diploma in Accounting offers the opportunity for young adults to develop the skills demanded for a successful career in Business and/or Accounting, while achieving a nationally recognised qualification that could ultimately lead to the full AAT Accounting Qualification. This qualification will teach candidates the fundamentals of essential business and accounting skills and principles in order to work efficiently and effectively in the work place. On completion, candidates can expect to apply for jobs as a Junior Accounts Assistant, Finance Clerk, Payroll Assistant, Payroll Clerk or further their studies at Level 3.

Course content

The Diploma in Accounting and Business is made up of ten mandatory units:

  • Processing Bookkeeping transactions
  • Control Accounts, Journals and the Banking System
  • Basic Costing
  • Working efficiently in Accounting & Finance
  • Computerised Accounting
  • Spread sheet software
  • Introduction to Payroll systems
  • Computerised Payroll skills
  • Applied business communications and personal skills
  • Developing study skills

Entry requirements

You must have at least GCSE grades A*–C in English and Maths or Functional skills—Literacy Level 2 and Numeracy Level 2. Entry is also subject to interview and satisfactory references.


The qualification is assessed by means of five computer based tests and five computer basedprojects.

Future opportunities

Candidates can progress to a Level 3 qualification in Business or Accounting. Progression is also subject to completing and passing Level 2 and satisfactory references.

      Once on site you can have access to our catering facilities (subject to agreement) and a range of rooms, 
      from our Theatre, with 264 retractable seats, to a standard classroom.

      We also have full IT support, and can offer rooms with either Macs or PCs running the latest industry-standard software.
