Sport with Football BTEC Level 2 First Certificate by (Tottenham Hotspur Foundation) at Waltham Forest College

Course description

This course is for students who wish to gain an introductory understanding of the study of sport. Students will also take part in an extensive enrichment programme run in conjunction with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Selected students will represent Waltham Forest College at intercollege football competitions.

Course content

This course will provide a comprehensive and challenging programme of study related to sport. You will study a range of areas within the area of sport studies including but not limited to: anatomy and physiology, fitness testing, training methods, sport psychology and leading sports activities.
English and Maths
There will also be an opportunity for suitable students to achieve a level 1 national governing body certificate such as FA level

Entry requirements

Minimum 4 Ds at GCSE
A passion for sport and Fitness


You will be assessed internally using a range of methods such as written reports, observations, presentations and posters.
You will also have two external exams.

Future opportunities

This course offers possible progression onto a level 3 programme of study and will educate you on the possible employment routes available within the sports and leisure sector.

      Trains run to Walthamstow Central from Liverpool Street station (a bus can then be taken to the College, see below). Wood Street station is approximately a 10-minute walk from the College.


      The Victoria Line ends at Walthamstow Central, which is approximately a 15-minute walk to the College. Alternatively, you can get a bus, see below.


      From Walthamstow Central:Bus 275 stops outside the College, 212 stops across the road from the College (Shernhall Street). Buses 97, 357, 34 or 215 stop at the 'Bell Corner' (junction of Hoe Street and Forest Road). From here, the College is approximately five-minute walk.

      From Blackhorse Road Tube Station: Bus 123 also stops outside the College on route between Tottenham and Ilford
