Business Studies A-Level at St Mark's West Essex Catholic School

Course description

It must be emphasised that unlike the Applied Business Courses, this is assessed entirely by examinations; students will learn to analyse numerical data and write precise and evaluative written answers. Some students thrive under the pressure of examinations and clearly this course would suit such students. You will enjoy this course if you would like to develop an understanding of how businesses of all sizes operate from initial start ups to large multinational businesses. You will also explore current business and economic issues and understand how they impact on local, national and international organisations. In addition you will acquire a range of numerical data interpretation skills and learn how to present an argument, supporting or disputing a particular view point. The lessons will take a variety of forms including: the use of case studies, independent research, teacher led presentations, group work, discussions, visiting speakers and experiential learning. ICT facilities will also be used extensively. This course provides excellent preparation for a range of degrees including Business Studies, Business Management, Marketing and Business Finance to name but a few. You could also go on to employment in a related field such as finance, marketing or administration.
