Level 3 BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma in Sport (Single) at Paignton Community Sports Academy

Course description

The Level 3 National Subsidiary Diploma is a practical, work-related course, which means when you have finished the course, you can choose whether to get a job straight away or study at University. Lessons are usually split into 2 double sessions and an additional single session with each dedicated to a particular unit. This is a fantastic option for those with a keen interest in sport but would like to also pursue courses in other subject areas. What will I be studying? Students will study a total of 7 units, focussing on different areas of Sport over a period of 2 academic years: Anatomy and Physiology in Sport, The Physiology of Fitness, Fitness Testing, Assessing Risk, Fitness Training, Sports Nutrition and Sports Coaching. How will I learn/ be assessed? The course has been designed to be a vocational course. The course covers a wide range of units and will allow you the opportunity to develop your skills and broaden your knowledge. The course is 100% assignment based. There are typically 3 assignments per unit. All assignments are graded on a pass, merit or distinction basis. Our teachers try their very best to make sure that the learner’s assessment preferences are met throughout the course. For example, if individual learners prefer to be assessed practically rather than through the production of written reports, every effort will be made to accommodate this.
