Performing Arts (Dance) BTEC Level 3 Certificate/Extended Certificate at Exeter College

Course description

The course in the first year is designed to enable you to develop and explore a variety of dance styles. In the second year you will build on these techniques, and develop your choreographic and performance skills.

Course content

In your first year you will study technique – Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz and Dance Performance.
In your second year you will study Choreography and Performance, alongside technique.

Entry requirements

You need at least five GCSE’s at Grade C and above (including English and maths). An interest in the subject or previous/current dance experience is desired.


You will be assessed throughout the year in the classroom and in professional performance environments. You will be required to work in groups as well as individually. You are required to complete theory as well as practical work.

Future opportunities

Initially the Certificate course leads on to the Subsidiary Diploma in Dance, then you can progress onto Dance Conservatoires and Higher Education Courses.
