Preperation for Employment in Construction Level 1 at Amersham and Wycombe College

Course description

This qualification is aimed at young people and adults who have an interest in following a career within the construction industry, and want to develop their work-related skills within this area.

Course content

This course will provide the learner with an excellent introduction to the occupational areas within construction industry. Skills learnt will be plastering, painting, bricklaying, tiling and more. This qualification also promotes the development of wider empoloyment skills of appropriate conduct and safe working practice.

Entry requirements

You need 4 GCSEs at Grade E including Maths and English at E+. If you do not have these grades you may still be able to study this course subject to an interview. You will be required to Demonstrate that you have a high degree of enthusiasm and commitment to succeed.


Assesments will take place within the workshop and classrooms. This is through written and practical tests, and a portfolio of evidence.

Financial information

You will need to supply safety boots, boilersuit overalls, pens, paper and an A4 ringbinder folder.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course can lead to differant pathways within the construction industry. Ranging from plastering, bricklaying, tiling etc.
