Land Based Mechanisation - Level 3 Diploma (Edexcel) at HARTPURY COLLEGE

Course description

This course builds on the knowledge learned in the Subsidiary Diploma. You have the opportunity to gain experience in our workshop facilities or with our range of modern tractors and equipment. There will be opportunities through the academic year for you to carry out practical tasks on the college farm and estate and a period of work experience is also incorporated.

Course content

Some of the subjects you will study include:

  • Work related experience in the land-based sector
  • Agricultural spreaders and sprayers
  • Understanding and servicing harvesting machinery – cutting and lifting
  • Specialised land-based workshop practise
  • Undertake an investigative project in the land-based sector
  • Agricultural forage crop production

Entry requirements

Successful completion of a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in a relevant subject. Direct entry from other qualifications may be possible and will be determined at interview.

Financial information

Students under 19 on 31 August 2015 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free. Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees. We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification. Students aged 24 and over. You may need to pay for your course. Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration
