CACHE Childcare & Education Certificate at Solihull College & University Centre
CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education is a one year programme which provides progression to the Level 3 Early Years Educator Diploma on achievement of maths GCSE grade C/ 4.
The course carries a maximum of 55 to 140 (A*/9 grade) UCAS points
You will study all aspects of children's care, play, learning and development:
You will need to undertake practical placements, as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations. To pass this qualification you will need to pass all units, All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. All units are graded A*/9 - D/3. You must also complete an Effective Practice Study Task (externally set, externally marked)

-Professional Practice Portfolio
Four GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (to include English Language) plus a D/3 in Maths
(You must be aged between 16 and 19 to enrol on this course)
You will have a positive school or college reference with good levels of attendance and punctuality. Experience of working with children e.g. babysitting, or nursery experience would be very useful.
There are 3 externally assessed components in this course. I exam and 2 set assignments. The remaining modules are assessed via assignments and course work. In addition you will need to pass your professional practice unit which comprises. 800 hours of assessed work practice with children in following ranges 0 -1 year, 2-4 years and 4-7 years in Nursery, Primary School and Special Needs.
If you chose to have a break before continuing your studies you may choose to go to work as:
Children's Centre worker, Nursery Nurse, Private Nanny, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Children's Health Care assistant or as a Childminder.
*If you wish to progress to Initial Teacher Training or EYT you must have Mathematics, English and a science subject at GCSE Grade C/4 or above
All students working with children will need to have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check; this may affect your application. Please discuss this with your interviewing tutor.
You need to bring pen, notebooks and folders to every lesson. It is expected that you will bring a memory stick to save and back up your work.
Educational trips are part of our course and students will be expected to contribute towards them, this must be paid at enrolment.
You will also need to provide costs for text books, a polo shirt for work placement and trips during the course. You should allow £70 to cover these
